4th Grade-Miss Fahey

Reading-Our story this week is “A Peddler’s Dream” and our skill lesson is plot.  Our reading Unit 4 skills test has been rescheduled until next Wed., the 23rd.  I’m sorry for the change, but with the kid’s day off on Friday we have to take our test for our weekly story that day.  Please be keeping up with accelerated tests.  Eight tests must be passed by the end of the trimester.

Science-We are continuing our study of space travel and have learned about the first 3 NASA programs.  Thank you to all who volunteered to help build and launch rockets.  We had so many volunteers, I wish we could use everyone!  Notes will be coming home this week, for those who will be helping.  Remember everyone is welcome to join us at the park on launch day to watch the festivities. 

Spelling-Our test this week will be on Thursday.

Reading-Our story this week is “Into the Sea” and our skill lesson is author’s purpose.  Our test will be on Friday.  Please be keeping up with accelerated reader tests also.

Science-We are now learning about the history of space travel.  There will be a space travel vocabulary quiz on Thursday.  Rocket day forms and money are due on Wed.  If you have not returned them yet, please do so as soon as possible. 

Spelling-We are on Unit 32 this week.  All of our words are possessive words, so it’s important to be able to identify whether we are looking for the singular or plural form for each sentence on the test.

Reading-Our story this week is “Space Probes to the Planets” and our skill lesson is text structure.  Our test will be on Friday. 

Science-We are finished with our study of the solar system and our test is on Thursday.  We will be moving on to learn about space travel.  Rocket day forms went home last week, please return them by May 9th.

Spelling-We are on Unit 31 this week and our test will be on Friday.  We have some difficult words this week so remember to study!  Also, remember to keep practicing handwriting also!

Progress reports will be sent home Wednesday.  Please sign and return the cover sheet on Thursday.  If there are any questions feel free to email me.

Reading-Our story this week is “Lou Gehrig-The Luckiest Man” and our skill lesson is text structure.  Our test will be on Friday.  Please remember to be keeping up with Accelerated Reader Tests.

Science-We are finishing up our study of the solar system and our final test will be on Thursday, May 3rd.  I’m impressed with how much the kids now know about all of the planets!  Notes explaining 4th Grade Rocket Day went home this week, please return money and volunteer forms (if available) by May 9th.

Spelling-We are on Unit 29 this week and our test will be on Friday.

The kids are buzzing about the Mathletics Competition!  Our class is doing well, so keep up the good work! 

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter and a relaxing break.  I can’t believe we are halfway through April, the year is flying by!

Reading-Our reading story this week is “The Race for the North Pole” and our skill lesson is graphic sources.  Our test will be on Friday.  Remember, students need to pass 8 Accelerated Tests by the end of the trimester.  Next week progress reports are sent home, so it’s a good time to remind the kids they should be at least halfway to their 8 if they want to stay on track.

Science-We are continuing our study of the planets and our solar system.

Spelling-We are on Unit 28 this week and our test will be on Friday.

Reminder-We will be going to Marist on Wednesday to see “Cinderella”.  If permission slips and money have not been turned in yet, please remember to do so.

Reading-Our story this week is “The Disguise” and our skill lesson is summarizing.  Our test will be on Friday.  Historical Fiction Book Reports are due next Tuesday, the 3rd.  Everything needed for presentations needs to be at school that day. 

Science-We are beginning our study of the outer planets and are now learning about Jupiter. 

Spelling-We are on Unit 27 this week and our test will be on Friday.  Please be practicing your handwriting as well.

Reading-We are back into our regular reading textbook and our story this week is “Keepers”.  Our skill lesson is plot.  Our test will be on Friday.  Remember, this month’s book report is due on April 3rd and needs to be on a historical fiction book.  Also, Accelerated Tests for “The Best School Year Ever” need to be completed by Friday.

Science-We have finished up the inner planets and will begin learning about the outer planets after our test on Wednesday. 

Spelling-We are on Unit 26 this week and our test will be on Friday.

Reading-We are finishing up the book “The Best School Year Ever” our test will be on Friday.  We willbe back to our regular reading book next week.  March book reports have been assigned and direction sheets sent home.  This month the students must read a historical fiction book and dress up as a character from the story to summarize the book.  Other details can be found on the direction sheet.

Science-We have finished studying the inner planets.  Our test on these planets will be on Wednesday the 21st.  We will then move on to learning about the outer planets.

Spelling-We are on Unit 25 this week and our test will be on Friday.

Reading-We are continuing to read “The Best School Year Ever”.  There will be a quiz on Chapters 1-5.  Look over spiral notes for the quiz and books will be able to be ued. 

Sciene-We are continuing our study of the Solar System.  We currently learning about the planet Earth.

Spelling-This week’s unit is a review unit.  Our test will be on Friday.

Reading-We are taking a break from our Reading textbook and will be reading the book, “The Best School Year Ever”.  Everyone did a great job on their biography popcorn bag book reports and we enjoyed our popcorn and reports!  Reminder-2nd trimester ends on Friday and that is the last day to take Accelerated Reader Tests for 2nd trimester.  This is a part of the reading grade and 8 tests need to be passed.

Science-We are continuing our study of the solar system.

Spelling-We are on Unit 23 this week and our test will be on Friday.
