Reading-Our story this week is John Henry and our skill lesson is making judgments.  Our test will be on Friday.  Cereal Box Book Reports are due on Thursday. 

Science-We had a great time making our human body t-shirts.  Look for them on display at Open House. 

Spelling-We are on Review Unit 18 this week and our test will be on Friday.

I hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend.  Progress reports will be coming home on Wednesday.  The top signature sheet needs to be signed and returned on Thursday.  If there are any questions about progress reports, please feel free to email me.

Reading-This week we will be learning about Tall Tales and figurative language, like similes, metaphors, and idioms.  Our story will be John Henry, but the test will be next Friday the 27th.  Just a reminder that Cereal Box Book Reports are due Thursday January 26th.  Direction sheets were passed out, but if there are any quetsions, feel free to email me.  Also, since progress reports are out this week, it is a good time to remind you that the students should be keeping up with their Accelerated Reading Quizzes.  Eight quizzes need to be passed by the end of the trimester. 

Science-We are finishing up the muscular system and then will be moving on to learning more about specific organs in the Human Body.  A note went home last week, explaining the Human Body t-shirt project.  T-shirts are due by Friday, the 20th. 

Spelling-We are on Unit 17 this week and our test will be on Friday.

Reading-Our story this week is “Amazing Alice” and our skill lesson is summarizing.  Our test will be on Friday.  Last week, students were assigned their January Cereal Box Book Report Project.  A detailed instruction sheet outlining the directions was given to the kids.  Book Reports are due January 26th.

Science-We are learning about the skeletal system.  Ask your student if they can tell you the scientific names of some bones or how many bones an adult has. 

Spelling-We are on Unit 16 this week and our test will be on Friday.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!  I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and a relaxing break.

Reading-Our story this week is “Out of the Blue” and our skill lesson is main idea & supporting details.  Our test will be on Friday.

Science-We are starting to learn about the respiratory system this week. 

Spelling-We are on Unit 14 this week and we will have our test on Friday.

Reading-Our story this week is “Chocolate Is Missing” and our skill lesson is author’s purpose.  Our test will be on Friday.  Also, just a reminder that December book reports are due on Tuesday December 13th.

Science-We are currently learning all about the Circulatory System.  Next Tuesday there will be an open notebook test on the circulatory system.

Spelling-We are Unit 13 this week and our test will be Friday.

Welcome back!  I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  Thank you all for the taking the time to come to conferences last week. 

Reading-This week our story is “Marven of the Great North Woods” and our skill lesson is drawing conclusions.  Our test on the story will be Thursday, since the kids are off Friday.  December Book Reports are due the 13th.

Science-We are finishing up learning about the digestive system.  There will be a quiz on Wednesday and then we will be moving on to the circulatory system.

Spelling-This week we are on Unit 12.  It is a review unit and the test will be Thursday.

Reading-Our story this week is “Komodo Dragons” and our skill lesson is context clues.  Our test will be on Friday.  Also, this is the last story in Unit 2, so that means its time for another Unit Skills Test.  The Unit test will be on Monday the 21st.  An outline of what skills will be found on the test will be sent home this week.  Just a reminder that the kids will need 8 Accelerated Reader tests again for this trimester. 

Science-We are now learning about our digestive system. 

Spelling-We are on Unit 11 this week and our test will be on Friday.

Reading-Our Reading story this week is “The Swimming Hole”  and our skill lesson is theme.  Also, the trimester ends on Friday, so all accelerated tests must be completed.  Remember the kids need to pass 8 tests and this is a part of their Reading grade.  Reminder-November non-fiction book reports are due on Friday, November 18th.

Science-We are learning about our body’s nervous system this week.  We are learning about the parts of our brain and what they do.  Check out the brain hats the kids made also!  We will have a quiz on the Nervous system and parts of the brain on Wednesday. 

Spelling-We are on Unit 10 this week and our test will be on Friday.

Reading-This week our story is “I Love Guinea Pigs”  and our skill lesson is text structure.  Our test will be on Friday.  Please remember that the trimester ends on November 11 and accelerated reader tests need to be complete by then.

Science-We are continuing to learn about cells and are excited to move on and begin learning about the human body.  We will have a quiz on Thursday.

Spelling-We are on Unit 9 this week and our test will be on Friday.
